10 Essentials You Need on Your Next Flight

10 Essentials You Need on Your Next Flight

I’ve flown a lot, whether its a short flight or long haul, I’ve done them all. Throughout the last few years I’ve curated a list of things that are absolute essentials to bring with me. These items are things I’ve recommended to my friends, family and have tried and swear by personally.

Airplane Essentials

There are so many things you could bring on the plane, and these are my top 10 that are an absolute necessity!

1. Headphones

I’ve had many types of headphones over the years. Most recently, I’ve fallen in love with Apple Airpods Max. I used the original Airpods for years until I finally caved and got these. The noise canceling feature has improved my flight experience greatly. What a game changer!

My husband is still so happy with his Airpod Pros! He isn’t keen on changing anytime soon.

I still sometimes want to watch something on the seat back screen, so I am always prepared with my corded Apple headphones. I’ve been using a version of these headphones for well over 10 years and I can’t seem to part ways! I know people use the Bluetooth extension to the seat back, but there is something special about the original!

2. E-reader

I am a book fanatic! I read all the time and that means I never travel without my Kindle. Its compact, easy to put in my bag, plus I can read it anywhere. There are so many E-readers on the market, but I have been faithful to my Kindle Paperwhite for years.

You can buy yours here: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Pro Tip: before you leave, download as many books as you can so you don’t run out of books on the trip!

3. Water Bottle

You may say to yourself, I can buy a water bottle at the airport. I used to be that person. If you bring a reusable one, you can fill it in the airport, for free. Plus, most hotels (especially the in the gym) will have a water fill up station.

I have had the 32oz Hydro Flask that everyone had in 2020, the Stanley FlowState Quencher Tumbler and for the last few months, the Owala FreeSip Sway. By far the best is the: Owala FreeSip Sway. The size is perfect, the handle makes for easy carrying, and the lock cap is the best feature. The color selections are so great! I have the Misty Meadow color.

4. Neck Pillow

I’ve had many neck pillows, I’ve also tested quite a few and by far this one from Amazon is the best. I’ve recommended it to friends and they all agree, this is the best.

This is the BUYUE Neck Pillow. The design made for the most comfortable sleep you could get on a plane. This features memory foam and can be adjusted to fit the side you sleep on.

Another feature I think calls for a shout out, is the removable machine washable cover. I wash everything after a trip, so this is great. This comes in a few fun colors as well!

5. Eye Mask

I held out for a long time on an eye mask for the plane. However, on my long haul flight to London I was so grateful I found one! I found one on Amazon that was fairly inexpensive and it changed my sleep. The mask is comfortable to wear, is complete dark when on and has deep eye pockets so your eyes aren’t smashed into the mask. 10/10 purchase!

6. Compression Socks

The biggest game changer of every airplane ride: compression socks. On a whim I purchased a set before a flight just to test them out. I can’t begin to tell you how these helped. I felt less restless, my legs felt more comfortable, and I even felt less puffy after. I’ve tested them on 2 hour flights and 9 hour flights. I will shout from the rooftops, get yourself a pair!

The exact ones I purchased aren’t available any longer, but these are the closest. I’m on the hunt for another set and will update then! Currently the LEVSOX Compression Socks are in my cart!

7. Apple Airtags

Something I didn’t know I needed until I got them, AirTags. The biggest fear when you’re checking a bag is whether or not the bags will make it to your destination. Add in a layover and the stress increases. Flying to London recently, I had a layover and was so happy to track my bags and see that they made it on my flight.

Safe to say, I will be traveling with these for life! Grab a 4 pack on Amazon and ease all your travel worries.

8. Beekeeper’s Naturals Propolis Throat Spray

I’ll be the first to admit it, I didn’t think this natural throat spray would do anything. Until, I kept getting sick from traveling. Traveling always exposes so many germs and illness that I inevitably always catch. Then I tried Beekeeper’s Naturals Throat Spray. My mom has been using it for years and now I know why!

I started using this days before I left, then every morning of my trip. I will be owing my lack of illness to this holy grail product. This has a honey flavor and is gluten free, but not vegan.

Grab yours here: Beekeeper’s Naturals Propolis Throat Spray

9. Emergen-C

My second favorite immune booster are Emergen-C packs. Paired with the Beekeeper’s Naturals throat spray, I never get sick from traveling. Adding in extra Vitamin C + D, Zinc, Manganese, B Vitamins, and electrolytes helps your immune system when you’re off of your normal schedule. When I’m about to get on my flight, I add a packet to a cup of water and I am good to go!

I get the 90 day supply from Amazon: Emergen-C 1000mg Vitamin C Powder

10. Magic Molecule Hypochlorous Acid Spray

If you are like me, the slightest bit of routine disruption also gives me a breakout. There is something about the airplane air that seems to make acne appear. I finally found the holy grail of acne-free travel: Magic Molecule Hypochlorous Acid Spray.

I may be a bit over-zealous by spraying before takeoff and when we land, but I won’t stop! It has saved my skin so much. I keep a bottle in my personal item and main luggage so I never run out. This spray is safe for all ages and not just acne prevention. This spray can also help on skin abrasions, minor cuts, minor burns, and minor lacerations.

Double check with your doctor if you have any skin sensitivities before using 🙂
